The Letter X, aeroplanes and spring inspire this week’s words…
Monday 27th August: The Letter X
Draw an X on a piece of paper, and help your child stick lots of little x’s on it that you have printed out from your computer. Vary the font and colours to make it more interesting.
Tuesday 28th August: X is for Xylophone
Make some music with a xylophone. Play loud and soft, fast and slow. Then put it away, as I’m sure you’ve got a headache by now!
Wednesday 29th August: Planes
Play airports with some toy aeroplanes. Pretend to put the people, food and baggage aboard, and then fly off into the air and zoom around until it’s time to land.
Thursday 30th August: Planes
Line up some chairs and play aeroplanes. Take turns in being the pilot, the flight attendant and the passenger. Run around the yard pretending to be an aeroplane with your arms outstretched.
Friday 31st August: Self-portrait
Ask your child to draw you a picture of themself. When finished, talk about the body parts they included, and other things that might be in the picture (eg. House, sun, etc.). Look back at last month’s picture and see how it’s changed.
Saturday 1st September: Nature Walk
It’s spring here in Australia! Take a walk around the block and look at the trees, plants, flowers, sky, street and people. What differences are there from last month? Collect some leaves, sticks, flowers to bring home and talk about.
Sunday 2nd September: Flowers
Look at all the different colours and shapes of flowers at the florist or at the shops. Which ones are your favourites?
Have fun!
